Notion AI Credits Pricing for a Small Team: What You Pay in 2026
Notion is moving existing workspaces to Standard, Select and paid credits on November 2. Here is what each one covers and what a ten-person team can expect to spend.
Notion AI credits come in three kinds. Business and Enterprise seats get 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits each month, and admins can buy extra Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 monthly or $13 per 1,000 annually. A ten-seat Business team pays $200 a month for seats before any added credits.
Notion announced a rebuilt credit system on October 19, 2026. New customers are on it now, and existing workspaces move on November 2. This article explains what each credit type covers, what a small team should budget, and where the pricing is still unclear. It is written for owners and admins deciding between Plus and Business. Little iApps covers software costs plainly, so we flag what Notion has not published.
What Changed in Notion's AI Pricing
Notion rebuilt how it meters AI in a post titled Agents, rebuilt to do more for less. The company says a new Auto model router sends each task to a model that balances quality, speed and cost, and that credits now go about ten times further on average. Treat that as a vendor claim until your own usage proves it.
The new system is live for new customers. Existing customers move on November 2, and admins receive an email with details. Accounts that have not yet renewed move on the same date with the same Standard and Select credits.
The post lists no dollar prices for the included credits. For those, Notion points readers to its account team and help center. That gap matters, and we cover it below.
Standard, Select and Notion Credits: What Is the Difference?
There are three pools, and they behave differently. Standard credits cover everyday work where Notion picks the model. Select credits cover work where you pick the model, and they also run Custom Agents. Notion credits are the paid add-on that admins buy for the whole workspace.
Each Business or Enterprise seat gets 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits per month. Both reset monthly and do not roll over. According to Notion's help page on what Notion credits are, the included credits cannot be pooled, transferred between members or exchanged for other types.
| Credit type | Who gets it | What it covers | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Every Business and Enterprise seat, 1,500 a month | Everyday AI where Notion chooses the model | Included in seat price |
| Select | Every Business and Enterprise seat, 500 a month | Model choice and your own Custom Agents | Included in seat price |
| Notion credits | Bought by admins | Shared agents, high-cost models, extra usage | $10 per 1,000 monthly or $13 annual |
The split exists because tasks burn credits at very different rates. Separate pools keep a heavy agent run from draining the credits that cover quick everyday requests.
How Much Does Notion Cost for a Ten-Person Team?
For a ten-person team, Notion Business costs about $200 a month in seats at the listed $20 per member price, before any added credits. Notion's pricing page lists Plus at $10 and Business at $20 per member per month. The page says paying yearly saves up to 20%, so monthly billing costs more.
Business adds Notion Agent, AI meeting notes and enterprise search in beta. Plus does not include the same credit allowance. If your team wants agents, Business is the plan that carries them.
| Ten-seat setup | Seats (listed price) | Added credits | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plus, no agents | $100 | None | $100 |
| Business, included credits only | $200 | None | $200 |
| Business plus 5,000 monthly credits | $200 | $50 | $250 |
| Business plus 5,000 annual credits | $200 | $65 upfront | About $205 averaged |
These totals use the list prices above and ignore tax. Your invoice may differ if you pay annually, since the discount applies to seats. The credit math is simple: 5,000 credits at $10 per 1,000 is $50.
Will a Small Team Actually Run Out of Credits?
Most small teams will not run out, according to Notion. The company says the vast majority of users are unlikely to exhaust their monthly credits. That claim comes from the vendor, so test it on your own workload before you rely on it.
Ten Business seats bring 15,000 Standard and 5,000 Select credits each month in total. Because credits cannot be pooled, one person using a lot of Select credits cannot borrow from a quiet teammate. A heavy user can hit a wall while the team total looks healthy.
Usage grows when you run Custom Agents that read many pages, take many steps or run often. Notion's help material says consumption depends on how much content an agent reads, how many steps it takes and which model it uses. Longer, busier agents cost more.
What Happens When Credits Run Out?
When paid credits run out, agents funded by the workspace pause until credits reset or an admin adds more. Agents you set up for your own use keep running until your Select credits are used. That distinction decides who notices a problem first.
A coming admin dashboard should help. Notion describes an AI Command Center, labeled coming soon, that shows usage by member, feature and agent, with spending limits and model controls. Until it ships, check the credits page in your workspace settings.
Payment failures behave separately from plan billing. If a credit payment fails, the team keeps using credits it already paid for, and extra credits stay on hold until the payment clears. Bank transfers can take a few days.
Monthly or Annual Credits: Which Should You Buy?
Buy monthly credits if your usage is steady, and annual credits only if it spikes or you need to plan a fixed budget. Monthly credits cost $10 per 1,000 and reset each month. Annual credits cost $13 per 1,000, are paid upfront and expire at renewal.
The annual option costs more per credit, which surprises people who expect a discount. Notion frames it as flexibility for spiky or time-bound usage. For a small team with predictable work, monthly is usually the cheaper route.
Admins can raise monthly credits at any time and the increase applies immediately. Decreases apply at the next month. Annual credits can be raised anytime but only lowered or canceled at renewal.
How to Budget for AI Credits Without Surprises
Treat credits like a variable utility bill. The U.S. Small Business Administration advises owners to track cash flow closely in its guide to managing your business finances, and AI usage deserves its own line item. Follow these steps.
- Record how many credits your team uses in the first full month after November 2.
- Identify which members or agents use the most Select credits.
- Decide which Custom Agents are worth funding with paid credits.
- Buy a small monthly block first and adjust it the next month.
- Set a calendar reminder to review usage every quarter.
If the bill rises, compare it with other tools before reacting. Our look at Zapier versus Make pricing for small teams shows how usage-based billing works in automation software. Our breakdown of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace pricing in 2026 shows how larger suites bundle AI into seat prices instead.
One more point helps when you compare plans. Seat price is only part of the cost of AI features. A tool that looks cheaper per seat can cost more once agents run all day, and a pricier seat can be the better deal if its included credits cover your real work. Compare the full monthly bill, not the headline number.
Keep notes on which tasks you hand to agents and what they save in hours. If an agent saves two hours a week and costs a few dollars in credits, the math is easy. If nobody can say what it saves, that agent is a candidate to pause.
Questions to Ask Before You Commit
A few facts remain unclear, and you should ask before signing a larger plan. Notion has not published a per-task credit cost for Custom Agents. Its help pages also describe two timelines, with one article citing May 4 and the newer post citing November 2. Check your own credits dashboard for the date that applies to your workspace.
Ask your account team three things. What do my current seats include after the switch? Will any contract terms change at renewal? Can I cap spending on paid credits? At Little iApps, we treat a vendor's refusal to answer a pricing question as information in itself.
For a related cost review, see our guide to what each Xero plan costs after the 2026 price increase. The same habit of checking seats, tiers and add-ons applies there.
Bottom Line
Notion's new credit system keeps seat prices the same and adds three credit pools. Business seats include 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits, and paid credits cost $10 or $13 per 1,000. For most small teams, the included credits will cover everyday use.
Your next step is to pick a review date. After November 2, check the credits dashboard, note who uses what, and buy extra credits only for agents that earn their keep.
